Medicine is evolutionary science. Dr. Grigore believes that strong
beliefs drive progress. She is a pioneer in that she creates possibilities
by pushing boundaries. What was once thought to be impossible in
medicine, is now mainstream curable and treatable when it comes to
heart failure, organ transplantation, ventricular assist devices, and
ECMO.
Our patients are complex as they require specialized care with
pulmonary and heart expertise. Dr. Grigore has the drive, experience,
and curiosity required to create optimal outcomes when a case is
difficult and seemingly unsolvable.
Our
Approach
During surgery, the cardiovascular anesthesiologist
cares for the patient undergoing open heart surgery
by administering anesthetic and other types of
medications, closely monitoring the patient’s vital
signs, and making decisions about how to protect
and regulate the patient’s organ systems. After
surgery, the cardiovascular anesthesiologist
monitors the patient’s recovery from anesthesia and
follows the postoperative progress from the recovery
room to the intensive care unit.

Dr. Grigore’s expertise began as she served as Director of Cardiovascular Anesthesia Echocardiography and Director of Operating Rooms at the Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, TX. She went on to become Director of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.
Education
and Academics
Dr. Grigore received her M.D. from the University of Medicine and
Pharmacy “Carol Davila”, Bucharest, Romania in 1989. Dr. Grigore
completed her residency at St. Luke’s Hospital Center, A University
Hospital Columbia, University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She then went on to Duke University School of Medicine Clinical Research and received a Master of Health Science in 2000.
